Dr. Marcos Doxanas

Marcos Doxanas began his wrestling career with the Golden Ring Junior Team in 1964. Three years later, he was MJWL Champion. He moved to the Perry Hall Varsity Team for his three high school years, where he was also an honor student and graduated in 1969. Marcos was a very successful wrestler and he was happy to pass his knowledge along to beginners. This trait has also continued for many years in his professional life. His high school coach, Al Miller, said of Marcos, "His leadership skills indicated at a young age that he was destined for greatness." At the University of Virginia, he earned a B.A. in Psychology in just three years and four years later, the University of Virginia Medical School awarded him his doctorate in ophthalmology. His internship and residency took him to the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins, Norfolk General Hospital, Greater Baltimore Medical Center and the University of Arizona Hospital. While practicing, Dr. Doxanas has published numerous articles. He has also published 13 books examining eyelid malpositions, surgical eyelid anatomy and abnormalities and malignant eyelid tumors, to name a few. Besides being a prolific author, Dr Doxanas has been a teacher of his skills, taking the time to pass on his knowledge through numerous lectures (including those internationally) and symposia. Having established himself through his special skills and proficiency in surgery, he is truly a world-renowned expert with unique training as both a board certified general ophthalmologist and as an ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive eye surgeon. His junior league coach, Jack Woodward, tells us that Dr. Doxanas would travel to Florida to treat patients who had grotesque facial features or disorders, often at no charge. Jack is very proud of the fact that he helped in the development of the young Marcos Doxanas and says, "He is truly an Outstanding American."
