Craig Reddish

Craig Reddish spent most of his life as a member of the Bel Air Wrestling community, starting in 1978 when he joined the Bel Air Jr. League program. During middle school, he managed and practiced with the high school team, coached by Mark Jacoveti. This proved to be quite the family affair. Craig's brother was the captain; his sister was the team's manager; and his mother was the booster club team liaison. Graduating from Bel Air High School in 1987, he lettered in football, wrestling, and lacrosse. During his senior year, Craig was a region champion and placed third in the states under head coach, Merle Busic. In 1991, Craig returned to his alma mater as a volunteer football coach under the mentorship of Doug Dempsey and Bruce Riley. This experience provided Craig with a vision of what he wanted to do with his life. He subsequently changed his major to physical education and graduated in 1994 from Towson State University. He coached football at Bel Air High for 22 years, serving as Offensive Coordinator and was a Varsity Lacrosse Assistant for 10 years. When the head wrestling job opened at Bel Air in 1993, part time assistant coach and 2013 National Wrestling Hall of Fame Honoree, Keith Watson, encouraged Craig to take the position. Watson felt that together they could bring Bel Air back to its past glory. For the past 22 years, the Bel Air Wrestling program has been a model of consistency. The Bobcats have always been contenders for the conference title and their focus on team development has earned Craig 323 career dual meet wins and a State Dual Meet Title in 2010. He also coached four individual state champions and numerous state place winners. Craig's teams, well prepared and technically sound, have been honored several times for their sportsmanship. He credits his parents for instilling the importance of strong family values, which have helped him develop young men and women of character through the sport of wrestling.
