Chris Kallai

Chris Kallai has been a wrestling coach since he graduated from Coventry High School in Akron, Ohio in 1979.

Chris began his coaching career at Malone College and has also coached in Wadsworth, Barberton, Coventry and Muskingum College. He also coached at Uniontown Lake High School, Wadsworth High School and Barberton High School.

He wrestled at Coventry High School and is a graduate of Kent State University.

Chris also serves as the Ohio chairman for USA Wrestling and was named USA Wrestling State Chairperson of the Year in 2012. He was USA Wrestling FILA Junior/University Person of the Year in 2010 and USA Wrestling’s Volunteer of the Month in May 2007.

He was named USA Wrestling FILA Junior/University Person of the Year in 2010. He was also named USA Wrestling's Volunteer of the Month in May 2007.

Chris served on USA Wrestling’s Junior Executive Committee, as vice-chair of the Junior Council and on the Junior Olympic Wrestling Committee. He also served on USA Wrestling’s Governance Committee and on USA Wrestling's International Exchange Committee.

He was the event director for the combined University and FILA Cadet National Championships, hosted in Akron, Ohio, and as a tournament director for the U.S. Open Wrestling Championships and the FILA Junior National Championships, held in Cleveland, Ohio in 2010 and 2011. He also served as public address announcer at a number of major USA Wrestling events.

Chris has served as a teacher of construction trades at Wadsworth High School for 20 years. Kallai also runs his own construction business, CNK Construction.
