Bobby Lloyd

Born in Graham, North Carolina, Lloyd graduated from Southern Alamance High School where he wrestled for Hall of Fame Coach Wally Burke. In 1974, Lloyd was a regional champion, state champion, and high school all-American. Lloyd was also successful in the Junior Olympic Wrestling Program, where he was a Southeast Champion. In 1979, he began his coaching career as assistant coach under coach Burke, then at High Point Andrews High School. In 20 seasons at Andrews, Lloyd was assistant coach on 12 State Champion teams. Lloyd is also the founder of "School of Hard Knocks" a youth wrestling program in Greensboro that operates year round. Lloyd has directly or indirectly through his clubs coached over 50 individual state champions. Coach Lloyd is known for not only for the success of his wrestlers, but also bringing out the best in young people and helping them realize their own potential on and off the mats. In the 2014 North Carolina High School State Championships, 27 of Lloyd's wrestlers qualified for the state placed, and five won individual state titles. An unselfish man who has give most of his life helping others "train for life", Lloyd and his wife Shirley live in High Point and are the parents of four children: Camilla, Robert Lee, Jr., Frank and Tammy.
