Harlan Hankins - Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award: Harlan, who also goes by Hank, graduated from Roosevelt High School in Johnstown, Colorado in 1964 and went on to the University of Oklahoma. He returned to Colorado and graduated from Colorado State University in 1969. While at CSU, he was able to qualify for the NCAA Division I National Tournament, twice. Interestingly, he has never held a head coaching position in high school. He was the head coach at Milliken Middle School (1978-2004) and was an assistant at Roosevelt (1973-2011) working with head coach Mike Pallotto. Pallotto, by the way, doesn't consider Hankins his assistant, rather his co-head coach. Through his career in the high school ranks he has helped coach the Rough Riders to three-state championships (1999, 2003, 2008), seven runner-up positions (1993, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010), and three third-place finishes (1990,1991, 2001). He has helped coach 33 state champions, 139 state place winners and 378 dual meet victories. At the 2010 Division I NCAA National Championships, he was honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association as the National Assistant Wrestling Coach of the Year. He has been a member of the Johnstown/Milliken Lions Club for 20 years serving as President and Sargent at Arms. He is currently a farmer and still assists the wrestling program at Roosevelt.
