William "Bill" Bragg - Bill graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1969. He placed third in the 3A state tournament in 1968 at 165-pounds with a 21-2 record, then capped his high school career with a second-place finish at 165 with a 22-1 record. He was a member of the Colorado high school team that toured Japan in 1968 where he pinned all eight of his opponents. He was the National Junior World Trials Champion at 178 in Freestyle and Greco-Roman in 1969 then proceeded to win the 1969 Junior World Championship at 178 (81 Kg) in Freestyle. He went on to compile a 67-27-2 record in college, wrestling for the University of Colorado. He placed third in the Big Eight at 177 in 1970, second at 190 in 1971 and finished third in the NCAA tournament. He was fourth in the Big Eight in 1972 and third in 1973. It was then on to the coaching ranks at the University of Oregon and then Wasson High School where he served with several of the state, college and national wrestling organizations. He arrived at Wasson in 1977 as an assistant coach and would eventually coach the Thunderbirds in several categories. He served as the head coach from 1978-1996, dropped to an assistant (1997-2002), then back to the head coaching ranks (2002-2007). His record at Wasson was 197-112-2 which included nine league championships while coaching 29 state placers and five state individual champions. Among his many other honors include being named the CHSWCA Coach of the Year (2006) and the Colorado Springs Gazette Coach of the Year (1988, 1994, 1995, 2005, 2006). In 1979 he coached the US Olympic Sports Festival West Team and was an assistant with the USA National Freestyle Elite Team. He also was an assistant cross country and football coach for the Thunderbirds. He taught Biology at Wasson and was the Department Chair in the Science Department for 11 years.
