Mark Ingrao

Mark Ingrao began his wrestling career as an eighth-grader and wrestled throughout high school. He started officiating wrestling in 1979, when he was a sophomore in college. In the 35 years since, Mark has officiated in 30 district tournaments, 25 AAA regional tournaments, 3 private-school state tournaments, and 13 AAA Virginia state tournaments. He has been the head official in many of those tournaments. Mark has also been part of both the training and evaluation initiatives of the Northern Virginia Wrestling Officials Association for most of his career. He is known throughout the Virginia High School League for his smooth mechanics and for his willingness to talk to coaches, even if they are at the time in an agitated state. After graduating from Bishop O'Connell High School in 1977 and the University of Mary Washington in 1981, Mark parlayed his degree in economics into several advocacy positions. For five years, he was the Manager of Public Affairs for the Apartment and Office Building Association; then he went on to a two-year-plus stint in the same position at the National Apartment Building Association. He is currently President and CEO of the Reston Chamber Commerce"”an official who is also comfortable in the arenas of business and politics. Mark believes that officiating is a way to give back to a sport that demands mental, physical, and psychological toughness in order to be competitive; wrestling helped prepare him for life's challenges. Because he believes that wrestling is such a positive, life-changing activity, he does all he can to encourage participation and to improve the sport, one match at a time.
