Scott Cook
Scott Cook is synonymous with Cookeville wrestling. Scott started the program in 1998 and has been at the helm ever since. Scott has changed as wrestling has changed, but the word to describe Scott is foundational. Not only has Scott laid the foundation for the Cookeville program he physically helped lay the foundation for the 10,000 SF wrestling room as well as raise funding and support for the building. Scott helped legitimize female wrestling by providing a competitive safe place for Kristi Sweat to hone her skills on the boys team way before girls only programs were a consideration. Scott is now also the girls coach at Cookeville in addition to the boys. Scott had a dream in a wrestling desert and whether Cookeville is having to fight against Bradley County schools or more recently the even more crowded Rutherford County schools, Cookeville is competing…which makes them a top program in the state. Scott has coached six state champs, eight runners up and 35 other state placers. And that desert looks more like an oasis and now has three other high schools and three tough middle schools wrestling in the area.
