Luke Crockett’s 30+ years as a competitor and coach is a highlight reel on its own, and includes multiple state, regional and national championships and All-American performances.  Luke doesn’t dwell on the unfortunate circumstances and extensive injuries that changed his life, so we will not elaborate here either except to say that he not only refused to allow those things to derail his passion and commitment to wrestling.  With stoic resolve, Luke made his way back to the mat in Greco-Roman competition at University Nationals and the US Open as likely the only amputee to compete at that level in USAW history.  Coach Crockett then continued his commitment to our sport by paying the wisdom and expertise that he learned forward to countless Idaho youth and high school wrestlers over the decades to follow.  Luke demonstrates the abundance mentality of wrestling through his willingness to spend extra time with wrestlers who demonstrate desire to excel in the sport regardless of their school or club affiliation. Most important was that Luke learned how to share his love for wrestling with young aspiring wrestlers, not just in teaching the techniques of our sport but helping young men and women learn life skills through our sport. Luke was always a good technician but has grown into much more than just a teacher of technique, he has become an ambassador for wrestling.
