Jeff Cook
Jeff Cook, a native of Hopewell, Pa., compiled a 35-year storied career as an official, refereeing at the high school level within the PIAA for 29 of those years and collegiately with the NCAA for 34 years.
Cook, a scientist by profession specializing in bacterial filtration, officiated five Big Ten Championships, five PAC 12 Championships, seven PIAA team and individual state championships, nine NCAA Division I Championships (2008-2016), 15 EIWA Championships, and 17 NCAA Division III Regional tournaments.
At the NCAA Championships, Cook officiated five NCAA finals bouts at the Division I level and also served as the NCAA Division I Championship Video Review Official in 2021 while additionally serving as the NCAA Division II Championship Video Review Official in 2023.
At the high school level, Cook, a PIAA District 1 Hall of Fame inductee in 2017, also served as District 1’s Wrestling Rules Interpreter for 16 seasons.
Among other notable events Cook officiated during the course of his nearly four-decade tenure, Cook refereed the Grapple on the Gridiron dual meet between Oklahoma State and Iowa at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City which drew a record-setting crowd of 42,287 fans on Nov. 14, 2015.
Cook has served as a mentor for many young officials while promoting their advancement to higher level events. He also served as liaison for Tim Shiels, NCAA Coordinator of Officials, as a video review educator and for evaluations and recommendations of officials for NCAA postseason tournaments.
Cook retired from officiating in 2018 and now lives in Gilbert, Ariz. With his wife, Teresa, Cook has two adult children, Shawn and Tyler Cook.
