Bobby Brooks has been involved with wrestling since his Freshman Year in High School as a wrestler, although if he had it his way, he would have begun in Middle School.  During his high school career, Bobby went on to accomplish a total W-L Record of 139-29 with a State Championship his Senior Year in 1983.  Upon graduation, Bobby joined the United States Marine Corps.  While stationed at Camp Pendleton, he volunteered at the local high schools coaching the wrestling teams.  He simply couldn’t get away from wrestling.  It becomes part of you, no matter what stage of life you are in.

After his service in the Marine Corps, Bobby went on to help start the Huntsville Youth Wrestling Program.  He coach and officiated for almost a decade.  He was influential to his sons and nephews during this time to start their own wrestling journeys.  Bobby also coached Team Alabama from 1992 to 1996.  During that time, Team Alabama had three 1st place finishes, one 2nd place finish, and one 3rd place finish.  Bobby also contributed as an assistant coach for the 1997 Grissom High School State Championship team.  Bobby continues to stay involved with the sport and community, as he volunteers at the AHSAA State Wrestling Tournament in Huntsville every year.  Bobby was also instrumental to the journey of his nephew, Jon Michael Turis, winning the 7A State Championship while wrestling for Grissom High School in 2022.

Bobby has been married to Ramona Brooks for 32 years.  They have four children; David Brooks (37), Cody Brooks (deceased), Destiny Foster (27), and Joshua Brooks (22).  Bobby has been employed with the City of Huntsville Landscape Management for 27 years and currently works as supervisor for the City at Hays Nature Preserve.
