Lee Reichert wrestled for Tahoma High School placing 3rd at state in 1969, then continued his wrestling career at Central Washington University under Hall of Fame Coach Eric Beardsley (WNWHOF-2002). At Central he was a four-year letterman with a 40 win and 20 loss record and was part of the 1974 NAIA National Championship team that was inducted into the Central Washington University Hall of Fame in 2015. Reichert graduated from Central Washington University in 1975 with a degree in Physical Education and Health.
Reichert has been a head coach at the high school level for 30 years. While at Kentwood High School two of his athletes were the first teammates to wrestle in the state finals in the same weight class. Reichert’s Kentwood teams won five league titles and three state championships, 1990-1991 and 1992. Coach Reichert continued his successful winning ways at Enumclaw High School, winning numerous league and regional titles and four state team championships. His Kentwood and Enumclaw teams combined won 21 league titles, 19 sub-regional and 15 regional titles and 7 state championships. He coached 20 state champions, 98 state placers, and a career dual meet record of 218 wins, 10 losses and 0 ties, a winning percentage over 96 percent.
Lee teaches that “success on the mat and in life comes from goal setting and that success stops when you stop”. In recognition of his success, he has been voted League Coach of the Year eight times and Regional Coach of the Year 6 times. In 2007, Reichert was honored as the 3A State Coach of the Year. In 2009 he was inducted into the Tahoma High School Hall of Fame and in 2010 into the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame. In 2012 Coach Reichert was inducted into the Enumclaw High School Fall of Fame. While retired, Lee enjoys hunting and fishing and has continued coaching with the Sumner Panther Youth wrestling program where his grandchildren participate.
Coach Reichert and his wife Sally currently reside in Black Diamond, Washington and are the proud parents of three adult women: Chantae, Michelle, and Megan. They also have five grandchildren: Zane, Raegan, Hoyt, Tade and Finn.
