Bob Lynn wrestled four years at Kelso High School for Hall of Fame Coach Jim Schall (WNWHOF-2005). Lynn continued wrestling collegiately at Central Washington University under Hall of Fame Coach Eric Beardsley (WNWHOF-2002) placing 2nd in the Evergreen Conference and competed in the National Tournament in 1967.  He also placed 3rd in the 1968 Olympic Trials.  Bob continued wrestling freestyle for the Multnomah Athletic Club after graduating in 1967.

Lynn began his teaching (Math) and wrestling coaching career at Hudson’s Bay High School where he coached the wrestling team for 28 years and his teams won over 200 dual matches during his career.

Coach Lynn coached 39 state place winners including four state champs.  His teams placed second in the State in 1990 with a third-place state finish in 1991.  Lynn also coached wrestling at Clark College for 2 years.  Coach Lynn always emphasized “be the best you can be” to his wrestlers.  Many of his wrestlers have gone on to become very successful wrestling coaches.

Bob continued his wrestling involvement as a wrestling official for the Evergreen Wrestling Officials Association for the next 25 years.  Lynn has officiated 14-times at Mat Classic, the Washington State Wrestling Championships.  He also served as the Assigning Secretary and board member for the Evergreen Wrestling Officials Association.

Coach Lynn was the Team Leader for the Washington State Cultural Exchange Team to Japan in 1979 and built goodwill for the sport between the two countries.  Bob was recognized as the 1989 Regional Wrestling Coach of the Year and was inducted into the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame in 2011.  Lynn was also awarded the Wrestling Official of the Year in 2016.

Bob Lynn supports the local Elk’s Club and their scholarships for kids.  Lynn resides in Kelso, Washington with his spouse Connie Ogren.  Bob has 6 adult children, Kim, Scott, Reid, Ben, Lindsay and Tara.  He also has ten grandchildren: Mitchell, David, Brittany, Austin, Faith, Gracie, Cayden, Noah, Corey and Braedon.  Bob’s life with Connie Ogren has given him a third family with seven additional children and 4 additional grandchildren.
