Jim Morgan

· Newnan native and 1972 graduate of Newnan High School

· Four year starter and three time area champion for the Cougars

· Competed on Georgia Tech’s freestyle club team following high school

· Graduate of Gemological Institute of America (Carlsbad, CA)

· Has been involved as a coach at the youth, middle school or high school level in Coweta County for 42 years

· Coached/directed youth programs in Coweta County - 8 years (1972-1980)

· Clinician at Arnold “Swede” Umbach’s wrestling camps at Auburn University - three years (1980-82)

· In 1980 he started the Coweta Cobra youth wrestling program. Club has trained over 2,000 youth wrestlers and produced numerous kids state champions and place winners. The program was featured as an exhibition team at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games; club became a true junior feeder program for the Newnan High School team

· 26 years as a Georgia High School Association sanctioned community coach for Newnan High School (1996-present)

· Under Jim’s leadership the Cobra Wrestling Club partnered with the Coweta County Schools to start middle school wrestling teams throughout Coweta County

· Purchased mats for each of Coweta County’s middle schools that feed Newnan, East Coweta and Northgate High Schools

· On the coaching staff for Team Georgia/USA Wrestling national teams (1982)

· Former Coweta County Commissioner

· Owner of Morgan Jewelers - a highly successful family jewelry business

· Wife, Angie; children: Spencer, Christen, Blair
