Lin Jastrabek
Although Lin Jastrabek never competed in sports, she has supported the sport of wrestling in a variety of ways.
Perhaps most impressive has been her work as president of the “Night of Champions Foundation,’’ a group that aids USA Wrestling and the U.S. Olympic Committee. Over the years the foundation has raised more than one million dollars. In 2007 she was named president of the NJ Night of Champions Foundation, a position she currently serves.
Her efforts had her named Woman of the Year by USA Wrestling in 2007. The award represented her contributions to the sport of wrestling. She was president of the committee for nine years.
She has a leadership position with USA Wrestling, specifically with fund raising efforts to support USA Olympic teams. She was recognized in 2008 for her leadership role in the USA Wrestling “Fuel the Dream,’’ an endeavor dedicated to raising funds to support all three Olympic teams.
For seven years she was a Board member of the wrestling Legends Foundation, and for eight years was on the Board of Directors with the NWHOFNJ chapter, including four years as Vice-President.
Her interest in the sport began as a child, with her family being big Olympic fans. In the early 1980s her interest peaked while working the head table during Bayley Ellard High School matches.
Currently a kindergarten teacher in the Somerset Hills school district, twice she was named Teacher of the Year, and recently was a nominee for the Henrietta Mears National Sunday School Teacher of the Year.
A graduate of Lock Haven State University, she received her BA in Elementary Education. She received her Masters at Seton Hall, and a Doctoral Degree in Elementary Education at Fairleigh Dickinson.
She and her husband Steven, former President of the NJWHOF, reside in Bernardsville. They have a daughter, Maggie, 23.
