Flint Swerdfeger

If you had anything to do with Deer Valley High School during the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s you knew who Flint was.  He coached wrestling for 31 years, (29 as the head coach). His teams won 361 dual meets, 14 sectional championships, and 10 individual State titles over the years.   He hosted USA wrestling tournaments, developed wrestling clubs for youth in his district and spent much of his summers taking wrestlers to camps and off-season tournaments all over the country.  He also hosted a Japan cultural exchange wrestling team and sent many wrestlers abroad to places like Australia, Germany, and Japan to expand their growth as students and athletes.  This commitment led Swerdfeger to many Coach of the Year Awards at both regional and state levels.  Flint is also recognized at being one of Deer Valleys top Educational Leaders for his classroom teaching of biological sciences and the other rolls he takes on to help provide a positive and spirited climate in the school.  A Great Coach is a Great Teacher.
