Fred Comaduran

In the South East section of Arizona, the name Fred Comaduran has been and remains synonymous with High School Wrestling.  Fred’s association with wrestling began when he wrestled for Benson High School in the early 1960’s.  He decided to stay in Benson to teach, coach, and give back to the community he cared about.  In 1977 Fred was named head coach for the next 30 years and then stayed on to assist for another 3 years.  His teams captured 4 State Team Titles and 5 State Runner-up Titles.  Over the years he coached 34 wrestlers to Individual State Titles and racked up a whopping 346 dual meet wins.  In addition to time spent with wrestling, Fred also coached golf and girls basketball before he retired.  If you speak to those who have known Fred, they will use words like integrity, fierce competitor, honest, and friend.  Benson high school was truly fortunate to have “Coach” Comaduran.
