Jerry Bond was involved in wrestling for over 50 years as a wrestler and coach.

He wrestled at Newton High School and placed fourth in the Iowa state tournament in 1963.

Bond wrestled at the University of Northern Iowa and had a career record of 64-18-4. He was a three-time North Central Conference champion and a two-time NCAA Division II All-American, finishing second in 1967 and fourth in 1968.

He was named UNI's Most Valuable Wrestler in 1967 and was a team co-captain as a junior and senior.

Bond competed as a member of the United States Marines Corps Greco-Roman and freestyle teams in 1970-71.

He coached at ADM High School from 1972-80 and 1984-87, compiling a 67-53-1 record in 11 years. Bond was assistant coach at ADM High School from 1990-2003 and the junior high school coach in 1973-74, 1980-84, 1987-88 and 2004-09.

As head coach, Bond had 13 state qualifiers, six state place-winners, two state champions, and 21 conference champions.

He was named 2A Assistant Coach of the Year in 1996 and was Junior High Coach of the Year in 2009.

Bond was inducted into the ADM High School Hall of Fame in 2010.

He and his wife, Pam, continue to live in Adel, Iowa. They have three daughters - Stacey, Stefanie, and Angie.
