Troy Nickerson
Troy Nickerson graduated from Chenango Forks High School with academic honors as well as athletic achievements. Four years he was on the high school Honor Roll and was selected to be part of the New Visions Program his senior year. He served as a Student Council class representative and as an Executive Council officer. While on Student Council he did everything from serving as a class officer for four years to picking up trash around the school. His peers selected him to the 2004 Prom Court and as the 2005 Homecoming Prince.
Nickerson's phenomenal athletic career includes being the first five time New York State champion. He enjoyed a varsity record of 213-6. His senior year record was 41-0 with 29 pins. He won the National Championship at Fargo five times and was named Most Outstanding Wrestler four times. He is a three-time New York Triple Crown winner and won the Beast of the East Championship two times. To complete his high school wrestling career, he won the Senior National Championships. He is a Dapper Dan and Dream Team winner. Nickerson also excelled in cross country, qualifying for state two times. Because of his outstanding leadership, he was selected Captain for the wrestling team four times, as well as Captain for the cross country team two times. Binghamton recognized Troy's accomplishments by twice naming him Athlete of the Year.
To give back to his school and community, Nickerson tutors younger students in various academic areas. He is very involved with his Church and volunteers in the St. Rita's soup kitchen. He has spent many hours raising funds for numerous area wrestling programs, and shares his time and talent as a coach in the area youth athletic programs. He helped with the World Championships in New York City and volunteers at the New York Athletic Club.
Troy Nickerson plans to continue his education and wrestling career at Cornell University next year.
