An outstanding collegiate career, which included three Eastern titles and two All-America seasons at the United States Naval Academy, launched Lloyd Keaser to even greater accomplishments in wrestling.

Under the coaching of Hall of Famer Ed Peery, "Butch" Keaser compiled a 54-6-1 record at Navy and placed fourth and third in the NCAA. He earned the Academy's awards for wrestling and for leadership.

His wrestling career soared during his five years of active duty with the Marine Corps. He won National AAU Freestyle titles in 1973 and 1976, and Greco-Roman in 1975, captured bronze and silver medals in the legendary Tbilisi tournament in the Soviet Union in 1973 and 1974, and struck gold in the World Cup of 1973, the World Military Games of 1974 and the Pan American Games of 1975.

But his crowning achievements were the Freestyle World Championship in 1973, for which he was voted amateur wrestling's Man of the Year, and an Olympic silver medal in 1976 at Montreal.

While rising to the rank of captain in the Marine Corps, he also earned professional honors, rating four times as expert rifleman and four times as pistol expert. He was assistant wrestling coach at Navy, 1975-77.

In 1985, Keaser became a systems engineer for IBM Corporation in Baltimore and continued to amass awards for his civic leadership. A frequent speaker at inner city schools and schools for the disadvantaged, as well as churches, youth groups, high schools, colleges and civic clubs, he participated in numerous fund-raising events for the Olympic movement.

Keaser has been inducted into four other Halls of Fame -Brooklyn Park High School, U. S. Naval Academy, Anne Arundel County and the State of Maryland Athletic Hall. The Lloyd W. Keaser Community Center in Baltimore was named in his honor.
