John Vogeding

In the nearly forty years since his graduation from Glassboro State College John Vogeding has been involved in the world of wrestling and the world of journalism. He taught for six years in Paulsboro Schools coaching three sports: wrestling, football, and track. He also has been active as a track official for thirty- three years and a football official for ten years. He left public education in 1968 to become sports editor at the Woodbury Times and was promoted to Assistant Editor in 1969. His principal role in journalism has been with the Courier-Post in Cherry Hill where he worked for 28 years, until his retirement at which time he held the position of Assistant Sports Editor. John is the tournament announcer and clerk for the District 29 Wrestling Tournament and has been one of the two announcers at the State Tournament. He is the original Assignor of the Southern Chapter of the New Jersey Wrestling Officials Association, serving in that capacity for ten years. He was selected Wrestling National Writer of the Year by Scholastic Wrestling News in 1983 and received the NJSIAA Award of Honor for journalism in 1985.
