James Giulio
INTENSE, PASSIONATE, FIERCE, MENTOR ... all words consistently used to describe the coach, father and mentor who has helped to change and shape the sport of wrestling in the state of Idaho. Throughout his 22 year career of coaching at American Falls High School, Jim Giulio has been a bold force whose passion created a culture of winning, competing, preparing the right way and a love and appreciation for the sport of wrestling. But throughout it all, although Jim coached his athletes to be fierce competitors on the mat but gentlemen off the mat. He focused not on the athletic success of the individual but the character of the individual. Jim coached his teams to 307 dual wins including two undefeated seasons. His teams garnered eight District Titles, five State Championships and one 2nd place at State. He coached 32 State Champion wrestlers including his sons, VJ a 4X State Champ, Boone a 3X State Champ and 4X State Placer and Gunner already a 1X State Champ and 112 placers. He added a remarkable eighteen straight Middle School District Championships to his long list of accomplishments. He also coached freestyle wrestling. Adding to his coffers 22 Western Regional placers, 1 National Champion and 14 All Americans. Jim was named the 5th District Coach of the Year nine times, State Coach of the Year five times and Idaho State Journal Coach of the Year five times.
