Keith Norris
Keith Norris started wrestling in 1979 for Tom Beck in the Hereford Recreation Program. He followed that experience to wrestle for a strong Hereford High School Team from 1986 - 1990. In 1990 he capped his high school wrestling career by finishing 2nd in the 23 team Baltimore County Tournament. In college, Keith was a member of the Kent State University Wrestling Team, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education. After graduating, Keith continued his involvement with wrestling by coaching at Loch Raven High School. In short time, he produced four regional champions and had three wrestlers place in the State Tournament. He then moved to Calvert Hall where he had three straight 15 win seasons and 6 team tournament titles. Because of this success, he was given the opportunity to coach Maryland to a victory in the Maryland-Virginia Senior All-Star Classic. After a successful 9 year coaching effort, Keith accepted the challenge to move to college coaching at Johns Hopkins University. Currently in his 15th season, the Blue Jays are in the midst of one of the best runs in program history, annually contending for Centennial Conference Championship. Johns Hopkins has had 21 wrestlers qualify for the NCAA Championships under his leadership. Prior to that, Hopkins had sent exactly two wrestlers to the NCAA's in its entire history. All seven of the All-Americans have come under Norris' direction, including 2013 national runner-up, Paul Marcello (141), and 2015 third place finisher, Paul Bewak (125). The first team championship came in 2012 (Centennial Conference). Perhaps most impressive, is his team's winning the 2018-19 NWCA Scholar Team Award for the highest GPA in the country for a Division III Wrestling Team (3.766)
