- 1959 graduate of Southwest Atlanta High School
- Former United States Navy veteran (1959-63)
- Retired Delta Airlines mechanic -31 years (1963-1994)
- 44 years of service as a wrestling volunteer at the local, state, national and international levels (1975 - present)
- Volunteer with Fayette County HS and Jr. High wrestling teams coached by NWHOF inductees Kirk Hoffman and Jim Bailey; assisted with match and tournament setup, athlete transportation to and from matches and tournaments
- Transported Fayette County team members to various summer camps including John Smith Wrestling Camps at Oklahoma State University
- Volunteer for FILA World Cup in Stillwater, OK (1996 and 1997
- Volunteer for Reno Tournament of Champions
- Volunteer for NCAA Big 12 Wrestling Championships
- Longtime member /volunteer with Atlanta Takedown Association (ATA); Volunteer - GHSA state dual and traditional tournaments -19 years (2000-2019); has served diligently behind the scenes - responsible for overseeing GHSA state tournament arena preparation including mat unloading, mat setup, scorers tables and clocks, and breaking down after conclusion of wrestling -loading mats, clocks, displays, etc..
- Volunteer - South Metro Takedown Club
- Presented the Atlanta Takedown Association "Volunteer of the Year" award at the GHSA state championships by Governor Nathan Deal (2011-12)
- Served on the Board of Directors for the Team Georgia National High School Coaches Association (4 years)
- Resides in Fayetteville, GA with wife Jeanine; adult sons Jeff, Jerry, Jimmy
