Keith Runk

Keith Runk was introduced to wrestling in the Maryland Junior Wrestling League as a junior high student. Keith's early success in wrestling and enjoyment of athletics led him to become a solid wrestler at Towson High School. His participation in wrestling, however, was overshadowed by his Lacrosse talent. Keith played Division I Lacrosse at Towson State University and was honored as NCAA Distinguished Scholar. After graduating from Towson State University, Keith pursued a career in Law Enforcement. After working with the Ocean City Police, he moved to the United States Secret Service. His experiences with this elite organization further enhanced Keith's value to Law Enforcement. Keith's next move was to the Maryland State Police, where he currently holds the rank of Lieutenant. Along the way, Keith served on the Maryland State Police SWAT Team. He is the longest serving member in team history with 23 years. For the last twelve and a half years, Keith has been commander of the Elite Team. He further served as a tactical advisor to executive command during critical and terrorist incidents. He has trained law enforcement nationally and internationally on SWAT tactics, critical incident response, active shooter response and is known as an authority in the field. Notably, Lieutenant Runk was personally involved in the arrest of the DC Sniper and Joseph Palcznski and has twice received the Governor's Medal of Valor. Still interested in wrestling and lacrosse, Keith recently returned to the mat, competing in the World Police and Fire Games in Spain, Australia, Canada and the USA. He is a four time medalist including a gold in freestyle. Despite his busy schedule, Keith has traveled extensively officiating Collegiate Lacrosse. He has received the Golden Whistle Award and has officiated the NCAA Championships. Currently, Keith is in his 10th year as an Assistant Wrestling Coach at John Carroll School and still officiates Division I Lacrosse.
