Michael Strouse

Michael Strouse is a native of Virginia Beach and counts himself as a product of the "Original Granby System" founded by legendary Hall of Fame coach Billy Martin.

Mike was a Virginia state high school champion in 1972 and helped Martin's teams win Virginia state high school team titles in 1970 and 1972.

He has been a staff member of the Granby System Camps at Hampden Sydney College since 1970.

Strouse competed at Florida International University and the University of Central Florida, qualifying for the NCAA tournament and finishing third at the Florida Collegiate state tournament and fourth at the Southern Open.

It has been coaching, however, where Mike's greatest impact has been felt. He coached at Brevard Community College from 1979-81, at Cocoa Beach Senior High School from 1982-83, at New Smyrna Beach High School from 1983-2011, and at Astronaut High School from 2011-13.

His overall coaching record is 260-85. He also coached the Oceanside Wrestling Club for 25 years. He's coached multiple Florida High School Athletic Association state champions, including three-time champ Billy Ahrens and Ritchie Crunkelton. He also coached USA Westling and AAU age-group All-Americans and countless conference and district champions.

In addition, Mike has been a highly-effective FHSAA registered official since 1985 with the Mid-Florida Wrestling Officials Association.

Mike is currently teaching at Edgewater Elementary School and is married to wife Robin. He has two children: Ryanne and Rachelle.
